MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Police have arrested two people in connection with the shooting death of an off-duty Memphis firefighter.
Carlton Wells, 23, and Danielle Mack, 39, were arrested late Friday night in the shooting death of Memphis Firefighter Mack Bond, police said.
Wells is charged with second-degree murder and convicted felon in possession of a hand-gun, according to police.
Mack is charged with tampering with evidence, police said.
The shooting occurred on July 15 in the 4500 block of Raleigh LaGrange.
Wells waived his Miranda Rights and told investigators that he was the man who killed Bond, the affidavit stated.
He explained that he was in a parked car inside Kennedy Park with his girlfriend, Mack, and Bond pulled up next to them, according to the affidavit.
According to the affidavit, the victim allegedly asked Wells and Mack to have sex. Wells felt uncomfortable with what the victim said and then shot the victim multiple times.
The car had been rented by Mack at the Memphis Airport Avis. She took it back to Avis claiming it had transmission problems and got a new rental car, an affidavit stated.
